Artisan/Skilled Metalworker
Seeking full-time artisan (schedule is four tens: Monday-Thursday 7:00 to 5:30) for small, artistic, friendly, sustainable fast-paced design and manufacturing company in close-in Portland (http://www.eleekinc.com). We offer a creative, positive work environment, central location, great benefits. You must have artistic sensibilities; meticulous attention to detail and safety; a stellar work ethic; experience with hand and shop tools; great attitude. Seeking well-rounded experience and capabilities including welding AND at least one of the following: electronics and wiring of lighting (a huge plus!!), plastics, patinas, glass, patternmaking, machining. Must be super diligent about keeping workspace clean and organized. Must be willing to make a minimum commitment of two years (and resume and references must show similar longevity in the past). Must be able to show a portfolio demonstrating skills and attention to detail (if you have it in digital form, please provide a link to it in your email or attach a PDF version--we have trouble receiving emails larger than 5 Mb).
Preference will be given to those who live nearby and ride their bikes to work year round (or commit to other sustainable commuting practices). Likewise, preference given to those interested in a healthy lifestyle. Starting wage $14-$16/hour DOE. Benefits include health (with alternative care options), dental, vacation, holidays and more.
